Last night Highbridge Caravans appeared on BBC Points West as part of their feature on the huge surge in UK 'staycations' and the high demand for caravans and motorhomes.
Ollie, our operations manager, spoke with the BBC about the stock shortages we have experienced as a result of the rising popularity in leisure vehicles.
He said, 'in my twelve years here this is the busiest I have ever seen it.'
The demand for caravans, motorhomes and campervans means that we have experienced stock shortages, where we would usually have several hundred leisure vehicles in stock.
As a result of this we are frequently taking in more and more used caravans, motorhomes and folding campers, meaning we can offer more for your used leisure vehicles.
Due to pandemic and international travel concerns many who, previously, may not have considered buying a leisure vehicle are now realising the many benefits and freedom that having your own motorhome or caravan allows you, and we are seeing an increasing interest from first time buyers. 70% of customers now are new to the market and are experiencing caravanning and motorhoming for the first time. As the interest for staycations continue to rise, the most popular choice for many is a holiday in your own leisure vehicle - which eradicates many travel and facility concerns and allows freedom to roam - with 6 metre panel van conversions typically being the most popular choice of campervan.
Ollie said, 'my personal holiday this year will be in a motorhome!'.
